White Out

Last Friday I co-chaired the auction for my children’s nursery school. The dress code was black and white. As I rarely wear black, I chose to wear a white two piece lace top and skirt. I had many friends come up to me to tell me how much they love wearing white dresses, but how they feel like they are wearing their wedding dress when they do. That got me thinking…

White is my favorite color of the spring summer season. I wear it almost everyday, sometimes from head to toe. For me it symbolizes the beginning of spring and starting fresh with a clean slate. White can be as dressy as black and is a great alternative to the classic black cocktail dress or blazer. One of my favorite yet unexpected pieces to wear in the evening In Spring/Summer is a white tuxedo jacket.

White tuxedo jackets or white linen blazers are the perfect top off to a chic linen blouse, boyfriend jeans heels. It is also an easy way to elevate your black cocktail dress. Push up the sleeves a bit, pop the collar add some big, gold chunky jewelry or a colorful silk scarf and you are good to go!

These Blazers or tuxedo jackets come in all different lengths and styles whether they are cropped, satin or cotton.   My favorite is the menswear inspired jacket often with a satin lapel.

Another strong look for Spring 2016 is  the ivory/white monochromatic menswear inspired suit with wide leg trousers. This is a super chic look for day to evening.

suitWear this menswear inspired suit with adidas Stan Smith sneakers and a white linen v-neck t-shirt if you can get away with it. Or pair with nautical chunky heels. Navy would work great as well. Feel free to Add on a fun earring and a few gold bracelets. I would add a bright red or orangey lip to this look.

Try a white linen blazer in place of a cardigan for a clean, modern look (and to stay warm when the temps drop at night.)
jeans
Choose White linen Blazer instead of navy and pair with cuffed Boyfriend Jeans and heels in a pop of color. I used my signature scarf as a belt as another unexpected pop of color.
