Remember 4th and 2 against the Colts back in 2009? Bill Belichick had no confidence in his defense that night to stop Peyton Manning and the Colts. He went for it on 4th and two on his own 28 yard line. The pass to kevin Faulk was incomplete. Colts get the ball and win the game.
Well, today in the Meadowlands, Belichick had no confidence in his offense, so when the Patriots won the coin toss to start OT he elected to kick to the Jets. The offense had no Danny Amendola, no Julian Edelman and a patchwork line after Sebastian Volmer went down with a leg injury in the first quarter. Tom Brady was getting beaten up all day and the offense showed no life until scoring a touchdown late in the fourth quarter to tie the game.

Belichick thought his defense, which played well in the fourth quarter, could hold the Jets and give his offense the ball back just needing a field goal to win the game. But the defense did not do its job as the Jets marched down the field with ease for the game winning touchdown.
Belichick should have taken the ball and put it in the hands of the Greatest of All Time in Tom Brady and let TB12 win the game. But Belichick made his worse call since that fateful 4th and 2 against the Colts and it cost the Patriots the win.
