Figawi is an annual sailing race that takes place over Memorial Day weekend in the waters off Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The race attracts hundreds of sailboats and thousands of sailors from all over the world, making it one of the largest and most popular sailing events in the Northeastern United States.

The Figawi race begins in Hyannis, Massachusetts and ends in Nantucket, covering a distance of approximately 25 nautical miles. In addition to the race itself, the weekend-long event includes a variety of activities, such as parties, concerts, and other social events, making it a major social gathering for sailors and spectators alike.

As Dirty Water Media’s Emmalyn Anderson tells us, Figawi is known for its festive and competitive atmosphere, as well as its charitable contributions. The event raises funds for various local and regional charities, and has donated millions of dollars over its long history.
