As the weather blows the cold out and the sun starts rising on more enjoyable days here in Boston, it’s time to signal the great Irish population of Boston for yet another round of Lucky Charms, green beer and four leaf clovers. 

This year Boston is offering its weight in golden opportunities for St. Patrick’s Day die-hard fans alike. Get ready to drink up and dive into a pot full of traditional Irish cuisine.

Harpoon Brewery keeps the St. Paddy’s Day shenanigans going all weekend long!

This weekend – Thursday through Sunday, March 5-8, 2020 – Harpoon Brewery’s massive St. Patrick’s Festival kicks off St. Paddy’s season a little early with an entire weekend of friendly banter, live music, flowing taps, and thousands of other beer loving folks loving the heck out of life under heated tents at their Boston brewery!  As we turn the clocks ahead one hour this weekend, that means more time to party! Tonight Harpoon kicks off Harpoon St. Patrick’s Festival weekend a little early with their 3rd annual Harpoon Mac & Cheers Challenge! Bring your friends and head down to the brewery for the biggest Mac & Cheese party in Boston.  Then tomorrow night, it’s time for the official St. Patrick’s Fest that kicks off Friday night and rolls right into Saturday afternoon. Then cure your green hangover by joining the Shamrock Splash into the ice cold harbor on Sunday. Harpoon’s 10th Annual Shamrock Splash takes place on Sunday, March 8th, at the BCYF Curley Community Center M Street Beach in South Boston to benefit Save the Harbor/Save the Bay and DCR’s Better Beaches Program.

Hungry for some ole’ Irish grub? Anthem Kitchen & Bar is celebrating this year, available from March 14th– March 17th, with a specialty menu offering traditional Irish dinner. Start off with a basket of homemade Irish Brown Bread and a pint (or two) of Guinness. Taste a traditional Irish meal, try a quintessential Corn Beef & Cabbage Dinner or the delicious Shepherd’s Pie is and comes with all the fixings. Dress to the nines – or should I say nine shades of green- and head over to one of Boston’s quintessential Irish bars, celebrate all the St. Patrick’s Day weekend festivities at MJ O’Connor’s Back Bay! Starting Thursday, March 12: they’ll will be serving authentic corned beef and cabbage dinner from March 12-17!  On Friday, March 13th they’re giving away a FREE trip to Ireland for one lucky MJ’s visitor!! Check out the details here. The must-see annual Saint Patrick’s Day parade rolls through Southie on Sunday, March 15th.

On Sunday, March 15th, it’s the annual South Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade which begins at the Broadway ‘T’ Station and ends at Andrew Square in South Boston. Your best bet for viewing the parade is to stake out a spot anywhere along Broadway. Marchers continue to Telegraph St to Dorchester St ending at Andrew Square. Bostonians were the first to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in North America. On March 17, 1737, as a gesture of solidarity among the city’s new Irish immigrants, Boston’s Irish community joined together in festivities of their homeland and to honor the memory of the below Patron Saint of Ireland and thus the St. Patrick’s Day was born!
