John A. Hoyt Striper Open at Island Creek Oysters with Dos Equis

Dirty Water Media’s Melissa Sapini headed to the beautiful shores of Duxbury for an unforgettable night at Island Creek Oysters — where fresh local oysters, stunning seaside views, and community spirit came together to kick off the weekend tournament.

In partnership with the Dos Equis Naked or Dressed campaign, the night brought playful – yet poignant – energy to the Captains Meeting for the John A. Hoyt Empty Can Striper Open — a fishing tournament founded in 2022 to honor the life and legacy of John A. Hoyt. More than just a tournament, this annual tradition reels in support for local causes while celebrating the power of community.

This year’s event also proudly benefited the Love for Laney Foundation, established to keep Laney Ladd’s memory alive by serving the community and supporting bereaved parents who have lost a young child. We spoke with her dad, Jeff, about the foundation’s mission and the impact of carrying Laney’s light forward.

From Island Creek’s famous raw bar and craft cocktails to ice-cold Dos Equis served Naked or Dressed, the vibe was nothing short of perfect. Patrons, captains, and community members shared laughs, raised a glass, and honored a cause that continues to grow stronger each year.

Whether you like your Dos Equis with a lime and a kick — or simply straight and chilled — one thing’s for sure: when community, coastal flavor, and cold beer come together, it’s always a night to remember.
