Jessica Alba gave a passionate speech at the Baby2Baby graduation event for young mothers at on June 7 at Thomas Riley High School in Los Angeles.
The event, presented by The Honest Company, was held to honor and recognize the achievements of 76 pregnant and parenting mothers who have overcome adverse situations to receive their diplomas. All of the 76 women who attended the event are currently living below the poverty line. Some of these young women are homeless.
Baby2Baby is a non-profit organization that strives to provide low-income children with the basic necessities needed to survive. The event included a luncheon and educational-program that gave parenting tips and motivational advice to help the attendees continue to achieve their goals. During the event Alba took the time to congratulate the graduates on their achievements.
“I am here today because I stood on the shoulders of my mom who fought against the odds to invest in me and my future. She inspired me to pursue my dreams and today The Honest Company and Baby2Baby are here to support yours. We applaud your work and congratulate you on this achievement,” said Alba.
Baby2Baby and The Honest Company provided each graduate with diapers, clothing, and other basic essentials for their children. They have hosted many key educational events and have distributed millions of diapers and other items to low-income children across the country.
