Nash Bar & Stage Has Officially Opened in Boston

The Nashville-inspired restaurant, bar, and live music venue will have folks two-stepping down to the former Abby Lane space this month

Nash Bar & Stage brings Southern food, fun, and flair to the former Abby Lane space in Boston’s Theater District. The latest concept from the Buttermilk & Bourbon Group draws on inspiration from Nashville’s lively music and food scene at the full-service bar, restaurant, and performance venue.

Designed by RODE Architects, the two-floor space boasts a vibrant, cheerful energy with nods to the Southern city it borrows its name from. The interior features bright, colorful murals from Mark Grundig, Southern-inspired design elements, custom millwork, and cozy bistro lights throughout. Accommodating up to 200 seated guests throughout, the first floor includes a full-service bar, dining room, and stage area while the second floor is home to a larger stage, additional bar, high-top seating, and 25-person private dining area. The exterior features colorful awnings and an eye-catching, custom neon guitar reminiscent of Nashville’s bustling strip, Broadway Street.

In keeping with the fun, flavorful menus at Buttermilk & Bourbon Group’s other concepts, Nash Bar’s menu offers a wide variety of Southern-inspired dishes. While overseen by Chef/Partner Jason Santos, Nash Bar’s kitchen and menu is helmed by Chef de Cuisine Ryan Poutre, who previously worked at Buttermilk & Bourbon in Watertown’s Arsenal Yards and Highland Kitchen in Somerville.  Initially serving dinner and late-night only, Nash Bar’s main menu features creative takes on Southern flavors like Jalapeno Cheddar Burger Sliders, Burnt End Fries, Slow-Roasted St. Louis Ribs, and Nashty Nachos, alongside a variety of Fried Chicken-centric dishes with rub options including Nashville Hot, Blackened Spice, Tennessee Smoke, and Mother Plucker. Nash Bar also serves up a limited late-night menu, which is available from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and offers a crave-able menu of over-the-top grilled cheeses alongside snacks like homemade beef jerky and other munchies.

Perfectly complementing its food offerings, Nash Bar’s beverage program boasts a wide variety of both alcoholic and nonalcoholic libations. Alongside a selection of beer, wine, and classic cocktails, guests can also enjoy more creative concoctions like Cheerwine punch, Cotton Candy Push-Pop Mimosas, Frozen Cocktails, Adult Lime Rickeys, Moonshines, and a monthly featured milkshake. Kicking off the monthly milkshake rotation is a Nashville-inspired hummingbird cake milkshake, which can be enjoyed with or without alcohol.

Driven by a mission to provide the Theater District with another vibrant, more laid-back option in which to enjoy live performances, Nash Bar is committed to providing its guests with lively, regular event programming and musical performances. Live music takes place on its second-floor stage every Friday and Saturday night from 10 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. to feature local bands, college partnerships, and further flung bookings with acts from Nashville and beyond. Nash Bar also hosta line dancing every Thursday and has plans to expand its live events schedule to daily programming that will likely include karaoke nights, open-mics, and comedy shows.

Nash Bar & Stage is located in Boston’s bustling theater district at 253 Tremont St, Boston, MA 02116. It is open for dinner service seven days a week from 5 to 10 p.m., for bar service Sunday through Thursday until midnight, and for bar service until 2 a.m. alongside late-night snacks from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
