    New Restaurant News: Forage, East Coast Grill, Casa de Pedro

    Forage opened it’s doors last Sunday in the space that previously housed Ten Table’s Cambridge location. Owner and general manager Stan Hilbert essentially got the band back together to make it happen. Hilbert, the former GM of Ten Tables Jamaica Plain, called in other T.T. staff, chef Eric Cooper and bar manager Joe Choiniere – to name a few, and welcomed diners to the casual, gallery-like neighborhood space with a menu that is “local and seasonal-ingredient driven”.

    Menu items will change each day to reflect the restaurant’s hyper-local concept, but if you get a chance, try Forage’s: Scallop spaetzle with brown butter, crispy sage leaves, cured scallops, and braised scallions, or the pan seared mahi-mahi over potatoes with Springbrook Reading, roasted onions, and wilted pea greens, and definitely their cranberry sticky toffee pudding with orange segments and ice cream.

    Even the drink menu pours it on with local options. If you’re adventerous, give the Foraged and Found cocktail a try. Like the menu says, it’s “a little this, a little that.”

    Forage is open for dinner Monday through Thursday from 5:30pm to 10:00pm, Friday and Saturday from 5:30pm to 10:30pm, and Sunday hours are 5:00pm to 9:00pm.

    East Coast Grill

    Hell Night lives! The East Coast Grill closed in January after 30 years of serving barbecue, seafood and spice, but there’s big news for the popular Inman Square spot. According to Boston Restaurant Talk and Eater, Mark Romano of Highland Kitchen in Somerville has applied for the space and license under his new company, Orange Blossom, Inc. Pending state approval for the license transfer, the East Coast Grill will be open by mid-summer.

    The Seaport is getting hot, hot, hot. A new location of Casa de Pedro will open in the ground floor space of Waterside Apartments in the next month or so. The Venezuelan and Spanish fusion restaurant will serve “fine latin cuisine,” and add another pinch of spice to South Boston’s bar scene.
