Apparently, it’s a possibility that undefeated retired boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. will be making a return to the ring to fight UFC all star Conor McGregor.

Word on the street is that the two fighters are in the final stages of negotiation and it will give a payday of $144 million to Mayweather Jr. and a payday of $10 million to McGregor.

This doesn’t make sense to me. Yes, of course I can see that Floyd will make a lot more than Conor, but $134 million more? That won’t fly with McGregor.

And zero statements have been released from either fighter or the UFC.

Is the UFC even going to let Conor do this? Is Mayweather calling the shots? It’s strictly a boxing match and Conor has to lose around 25 pounds? Oh, that’s fair.

MMA and boxing are two completely different sports and in a perfect world this would be cool. However, you really can’t expect McGregor to walk into a 12-round boxing match and compete with one of the greatest fighters of all time.

Also, what ever happened to the McGregor vs. Diaz rematch that everyone has been talking about? I’m pretty sure that’s all Conor has been posting about on social media, and he’s put up zero posts about fighting Floyd. McGregor won’t be able to move on to anything until he beats Nate Diaz, that’s his main priority right now.

You can’t just believe everything you read. Yes, this would be a cool storybook super fight, but it just doesn’t make any sense. I hope it happens, I really do, and I also hope three rounds in, McGregor gets fed up with boxing and destroys Mayweather’s face with a flying knee of death. Now, that would be worth my money to watch.

If somehow I am wrong, and this fight does happen, I will film myself admitting I have no idea what I’m talking about.
