Olympic Spirits

Foundry On Elm is celebrating the 2016 Olympic Games with South American-inspired cocktails.

Taste the spirit of the Olympics – literally. Local restaurants and bars are celebrating the athletic contest with Brazilian specialty dishes, as well as festive, and sport-themed cocktails.

The Palm Boston
One International Place, Boston
The Palm Boston is offering a special spin on Brazil’s national cocktail, the Caipirinha, made with cachaça, sugar, and lime. Executive chef Karen Mitchell is also cooking up Coxinha de Frango, a chicken fritter made with deep fried wheat flour dough stuffed with chicken, onions, garlic, and red pepper. Both items are available for the duration of the 2016 Olympic Games, at the Palm’s bar, in the dining room, or on their patio.

Olde Magoun’s Saloon
518 Medford Street, Somerville
Olde Magoun’s Saloon is featuring South American street food every Wednesday night in August to cheer on the athletes. Menu items include tuna nachos, grilled street corn, lobster corn fritters, and a poco loco burrito.

Foundry On Elm
255 Elm Street, Somerville
The American pub/French bistro is featuring cocktails, each crafted with traditional flavors of Central and South America: the Up in Smoke (mezcal, sherry, Falernum, grapefruit and lemon), the Thyme Out (pisco, thyme-infused vermouth, Combier and lemon), and the Lime Light (tequila, St-Germain, Strega and Aquavit), range from $11 to $12.

Lincoln Tavern & Restaurant
425 West Broadway, South Boston
Cheer on team USA at this Southie hotspot. Lincoln will showcase the popular events, matches, and races, on their six televisions as well as on their three big screen projectors. They are also hosting a viewing party to celebrate Michael Phelps’ return to swimming, complete with a Butterfly Effect cocktail (Don Julio Blanco, fresh lime, agave, orange juice, muddled watermelon, and fresno chile), as a tribute to the speedy swimmer’s famous race. The Butterfly Effect and other Olympic-inspired beverages will be available this evening and through the duration of the games.

Emerald Lounge at Revere Hotel Boston Common
200 Stuart Street, Boston
Beginning with tonight’s Opening Ceremony and through August 21, the Emerald Lounge will serve Olympic-inspired libations, including the Swim Faster Phelps (Bully Boy Vodka, Triple Sec, lime, simple syrup, cherry syrup, mint, Blueberry Red Bull), a ‘Torch’ed Cherry (Woodford Reserve, cherry syrup, Maraschino Liqueur, Pepsi), the Bright n’ Sunny (Mount Gay Black Barrel Rum, ginger syrup, lime, simple syrup, Tropical Red Bull), and the Aye Que RIO! (Sauza Tequila, St. Germain, lime, simple syrup, raspberry, cucumber).
