Looking to cure the weekday work blues or simply seeking to start off the weekend right? Come and join the After Work Social at Central Bistro located at 34 Summer Street in the heart of Boston’s downtown district to share, eat, and drink among colleagues and friends every Thursday night starting at 5:00 PM. Thirsty Thursdays are sometimes a necessary ingredient to unwind at the close of the work week, and Central’s Social offers both signature drinks and complimentary small plates to give a little kick to your cocktail.

Central offers a welcoming environment with friendly service and bar staff who can mix up a signature cocktail accompanied by a plate of your choice. From dinners out to catered events to socials, Central defines the bistro by its home-style like plates at low prices in a stylish, cozy atmosphere in the historical district of Downtown Crossing. Central has been a winner of the 2014 and 2015 Open Table Diner’s Choice Awards in Boston.

There is no wrong way to enjoy a Social at Central. Feeling ravenous? Check out their dinner menu. Starters include a Sausages and Spreads board with a house-made selection, including the savory house morcilla sausage and creamy, ricotta cheese. Jump into the entree portion of  the course by course experience and pick your delectable dinner amongst the selections of entrees. I recommend the BB’Q Cod Loin with fresh, tomato gazpacho and rich, garlic smashed potatoes. The Jumbo Scallops or the Steak Frites are also enticing options for full-belly satisfaction.

Among other exciting eats and drinks at Central, the bar menu includes the perfect after-work small plate and complimentary drink to cure your Thursday blues including their Bites and Backs creations. Try the Deviled-Egg and Oyster plate, a brittle Cape Cod oyster with deviled-egg and aioli sauce alongside a Farmer’s Market bloody, a classic cocktail with vegetable-infused vodka. Or dig into the Belly Salad and Movimientos cocktail, a plate of grilled watermelon, sticky pork belly, Thai basil gremolata next to a mezcal, tanteo jalapeño infused tequila cocktail with agave and orange juice. Perfecto.

No evening is topped off right without a dessert. Feeling thirsty? Go for the Salted Caramel Martini made with Vanilla Vodka, Créme de Cocoa, Bailey’s Caramel Chocolate Lace, and a sugary, salted rim. If you want to stick with the classic  spoon dessert, try the Baked Alaska, a black rasberry and vanilla icecream and vanilla génoise cake combo covered with toasted meringue.
