The 3 Components to Happiness

Have you ever heard something either in a song, movie, or book that totally changed your perspective on life? In my case it was something I heard in a podcast called Doing The Most hosted by Shannon Fairweather. In this specific episode called “Happy is Healthy” with Margret Cresta, it was talking about how Margaret found herself on a fitness journey and how it made her feel great physically and mentally. They have a conversation that is constantly engaging and makes you want to listen more. While learning from what they were both saying, Shannon said “You should be as careful with the people you surround yourself with as you are with the food you eat.” Just like society likes to say all the time “you are what you eat”, the same goes for the people you surround yourself with. Obviously with food everything in moderation is fantastic, but that does not apply for having negative minded people in your life. Steps to happiness can be simple when you break it down like this…

    • BODY

Starting off with our bodies. Not just the physical aspect, but the mentality as well. Fun fact, our bodies are the least interesting thing about our unique selves, but that does not mean we should not take care of it. Our body enables us to explore, create, imagine, travel, and so much more. We have to treat our bodies with care so that we can be able to do all the adventuring we want. Making a schedule in your week to find time to get moving is so crucial. This benefits your mental and physical health. Get sweating, and get moving. I can promise you it will make you feel happier. Our body releases chemicals called endorphins that give you a positive feeling within your whole body.

    • SOUL

Do something good for your soul. What enriches you? What interests you? What fascinates you? What do you want to do more of? Finding things you are passionate about makes life even more worth living. You have to feed your soul in order to thrive in all aspects of your life. Becoming mindful, meditating, reading a book, and thinking what you have gratitude for are very grounding experiences to come closer to your inner self. I highly recommend trying one of these techniques out.

Lastly, but probably one of the most crucial pieces to pure bliss and peace is cutting out the negative people. Do you have “friends” that you feel like would talk about you the second you get up from the table? Or “friends” who are never truly proud of your success? These are people who do not belong in your path. What I have learned in my 20 years thus far, is that you really start to see what you are capable of when the toxic people are out of your life. They hold you back and bring you horrible energy. If you are around this negative headspace it will transfer to you whether you realize it or not. You have to find like minded souls with the same morals and values to grow into the person you want to be. 🙂
