A Hauntingly Good Halloweekend at The Castle

by | Nov 2, 2015 | Dirty Water News

Boston trick-or-drinkers headed to a haunted Castle basement for a Halloween scare and the usual Halloweekend shenanigans.

If you didn’t dare, you weren’t there-it was a terrifyingly good time!

Shipyard Pumpkinhead Ale hosted the biggest Halloween party in Boston at Park Plaza Castle in the heart of Back Bay on both Friday and Saturday night of Halloween weekend. The ticketed event attracted over 2,000 students and young professionals from all over the city who came to the basement doors of the old National Guard Armory to experience a haunted night of epic dancing, drinking, and related activities. The event featured incredible prizes for best costume, photo booths, Shipyard drinks, music by DJ Breeazy and other celebrated DJ’s, Dirty Water TV, and a variety of sponsored prizes. A VIP section for the committed partiers offered a select seating section and special VIP table service. A portion of the proceeds benefitted the Minds Foundation, a non-for-profit dedicated to relieving the stigma of mental illnesses and assisting those in need of help through education, mental health care, and financial support to mental disorder facilities in rural India.
The Pumpkinhead Bash venue is one of the oldest standing buildings in Back Bay. The Castle stands at the corner of Columbus Avenue and Arlington Street, and was originally built in 1741 as an armory-there was once a dry moat and fully stocked food and armory in the castle! The night of endless dancing and other related shenanigans, courtesy of Shipyard Ale, was hosted in the basement of the castle- a terrifyingly perfect place for a spooky Halloween bash. The old castle offers dim lighting and soaring ceilings, making it a perfect place to glam up with Halloween cobwebs, skeletons, carved pumpkins, and other Halloween decorations.

The attendees dressed up in a variety of costumes, ranging from the classic skeleton and walking dead to Tom Brady’s cell phone and Wrecking Ball. Dirty Water TV reporters dressed up in costume attended the large-scale event to film the entertainment, and to sneak a peak of one of the hottest venues in Boston. DW followers were quick to catch onto the rowdy and inviting Pumpkinhead Bash event, and The Castle was able to cram in thousands of attendees both nights.

A 24-year-old Syracuse grad, Lindsey Chapman recalled that the Ghouls Gone Wild Friday night party at The Castle was exceptional. The young professional lives in Brighton and came all the way to Back Bay to meet up with her high school friends for an extraordinary night of horror. Whilst amongst the crowds at the center bar, Chapman says, “My favorite part of the event is the costumes! There are even huge skeletons walking around that you can take pictures with. I would tell a friend that they should attend tomorrow night’s bash if they are looking to dance and be around a younger crowd.”

The weekend was a thriller, and the Pumpkinhead Bash ignited the 2015 Halloween spirit. Stay tuned for more Holiday oriented events and parties by following Dirty Water TV – we provide the insight for the hottest events and experiences in Boston! Hope you had a spook-tacular weekend.
