Newton’s Baramor Restaurant Encourages Guests to Dine on Globally-Inspired Cuisine and ‘Suffer for Charity’ at Event in Partnership with Project Citizenship
Willing to suffer for charity? Newton’s charitable restaurant and bar, Baramor, is bringing the heat to winter dining with a Scoville-fueled fundraiser event for charity.
On Sunday, December 5th, 2021 from 4:00PM – 8:30PM, the casual American restaurant will be partnering with Project Citizenship for the Suffer for Charity event, an outdoor three-course dinner with an optional spicy eating competition and raffles to benefit the cause.
“Ninety percent of eligible immigrants do not naturalize; that bodes poorly for our social, cultural, economic and civic health. At Project Citizenship, we are excited about Baramor’s philanthropic partnership to get our message out in regards to the importance of U.S. citizenship and our overall mission,” said Mitra Shavarini, Executive Director of Project Citizenship.
The ticketed event includes a three course dinner featuring cultural dishes from Colombia, Mexico, and Peru to help raise awareness for the native cuisine of many immigrants across Massachusetts. Some of these dishes include Empanadas, Ajiaco Soup, and Potatoes a la Huancaína. Vegetarian options will be available. Kid’s meal includes a choice between a cheese or chicken quesadilla served with fries and a chocolate sundae for dessert. In addition to food, Baramor’s bar will be offering a variety of beer and cocktail specials in which $3 whereby donated directly to Project Citizenship.
Brave the cold weather with help from insane spice and participate in an optional spicy eating challenge. The challenge includes four levels of hot sauce-lathered chicken wings or cauliflower bites with increasing Scoville rankings. For each level guests successfully complete, Baramor will donate additional money to Project Citizenship. The more spice guests can tolerate, the more money will be donated! Extra confident in your spice-consuming abilities? The Newton restaurant will be offering up an ultimate fifth level for a grand prize donation payout.
For those that can’t handle the heat, Baramor will be offering up shots and glasses of milk with a simple catch: if you can’t suffer for charity, you must donate for relief. All proceeds from shots and glasses of milk will be donated to Project Citizenship.
Tickets for the event vary by age and participation level. Adult tickets for the three course dinner and additional spicy eating challenge will cost $75. For those solely coming for the 3 course dinner of varying cultural cuisines, tickets will be $60. Kids aged 12 and under will receive a special kids’ menu for $20. And for those simply coming to watch the show, guests can purchase a $20 ticket which will be a direct donation to charity. For all adult ticket sales, Baramor will be donating $20 directly to Project Citizenship, and $10 for all kids ticket sales. Click here to purchase a ticket.
