Minority-owned businesses have been hit hard during the pandemic and coworking company Workbar wants to do something about it.
With this in mind, the company has announced that it will assist a minority-owned business with a $5,000 grant and annual coworking membership.
“We are all about our local business community. We’re grateful for the inspiring entrepreneurs and resilient small business owners who walk through our doors every day. This year, instead of our annual holiday party, we’re giving back to the community that makes what we do possible with a grant designed to help one local business start 2022 off right. “ Said CEO Sarah Travers.
Workbar is no stranger to giving back, the company believes philanthropy should be in a businesses DNA. Which is why each time a new Workbar opens, the company donates $5,000 to a local charity within the community. The pandemic led to the Workbar Cares program, helping its members support one another by offering other members their services, advice or support during a tough year. Boston-area charities like Women’s Lunch Place (serving area women) and Minds Matter (helping high-school students from low-income families) and Wonderfund (non-profit serving children of the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families) have been recipients of Workbar’s largesse.
“Massachusetts is our home – and we love the businesses that make the Commonwealth such an amazing place to work. The COVID-19 pandemic has made it difficult for entrepreneurs to keep their doors open, retain employees, and rebuild. Nobody knows the devastating economic and health impacts of COVID-19 better than minority-owned businesses. Through our Small Business grant, we’re hoping to provide capital and free workspace to a business that needs it most. “ Said CEO Sarah Travers
